Swivels

intermediate

also known as: Follower Swivels · Walk-Walk Swivels

Follower styling in which the walk-walk counts (1–2 of most patterns) are danced with the feet closing and the hips rotating through each step — the classic sultry WCS look on slow music.

Swivels are almost always described as optional styling, chosen by the follower when the connection and tempo give room for them. Technique instruction usually focuses on swiveling from the standing leg with the core engaged, keeping the travel honest so the pattern timing doesn't distort.
